Online Reservations - About Us

Booking Angel was started in Australia in 2004 as a side project for Dean McEvoy and David Watson. It has since grown organically with the help of our customers and partners until recently when some external investors ADI and information city came on board. This allowed us to explore the US market where we have opened offices and were recently voted in the top 100 private companies in the US at the Always On conference.

Angel - Founder
I started the angel team with the belief that a wing and a prayer is not the only thing you need to be blessed in business.
I'm the hardest working employee at Booking Angel but I wouldn't have it any other way.

Each day I strive to have people the world over experience the sensation of being touched by an angel by making the daily grind of booking a delicious dining experience just that little bit easier.

In my spare time I like to preen my wings, nothing cuter than an angel in good shape. I'm also a massive fan of my iPod "must be talking to an angel" is amongst my favourite songs... I love people and my friends and like all girls in my generation I spend a fair bit of time meeting little devils on Facebook.

Quote:We are each of us angels with only one wing, and we can only fly by embracing one another

Dean McEvoy - CEO & Founder
Dean grew up in the southern beaches of Sydney. From an early age he told his parents that he wanted to be an inventor. His wild imagination resulted in the destruction of many household appliances and the creation of some interesting contraptions and even once a rescue attempt from the fire brigade. Dean has worked as a marketing consultant with Diana Eilert (ex AT Kearney)at the advertising agency Frontline. The company responsible for launching Microsoft in Australia. He learnt about Internet development and online marketing from Hothouse Interactive one of Australia's leading web developers and worked with startups and some of Australias biggest brands. He was also part owner and the driving force behind the development and successful sale of his own bar and restaurant called The Roxbury.
Quote: Behold the turtle...He only makes progress when he sticks his neck out

David Watson - Lead Developer
The tendency to pull things apart as a child was shared by Dave... However he hasn't grown out of it. Whether it is assembling a powerful computer server or rebuilding his treasured car from scratch he likes to know what makes things tick and more importantly how to make them work better. Dave has worked in numerous fields in the IT industry such as network administration, system administration, application development and web development. Employed by companies such as One.Tel, Hothouse Interactive and Unwired. He was also an integral part of the team that developed a unique patented software system used by the Australian insurance industry
Gerry Tan - Technical Guru
Growing up in sunny Queensland, Gerry spent his early days either out fishing or skateboarding with his friends. After studying information technology at the University of Queensland, Gerry moved to Sydney in 1997 to pursue his career in IT. After a number of different roles in various fields of the IT industry covering technologies such as ASP, Ruby, Java, PHP and Perl he eventually took on the job as platform manager in BigPond.com, Australia's largest ISP and then moved on to a role as the development manager at Unwired Australia. Gerry also worked with David and Dean at Australia's largest web developer Hothouse Interactive. He then left and travelled extensively around South East Asia before coming on board with Booking Angel. Gerry is an excellent pool player and utilizes his childhood fishing skills by catching out the sharks in the local 9 ball competitions.
